Met gala 2012

Tuesday 12 June 2012

If there was one fashion event I could ever attend, it would be the Met Gala in New York. It basically gives you an opportunity, to wear the most outrageous and glamorous haute couture gowns while still looking amazing. No one wants to see a purple big bird acting as your dress for the night. Half the people attending the ball, stay away from the risky outfits and still manage to disappoint. Others, taking full advantage of the designers throwing themselves at their feet, pull out the big stops and come out looking exactly like the hollywood stars they are.

L-R Kate Bosworth, Scarlett Johansson, Solange Knowles, Sofia Vergara, Victoria Justice
Kate Bosworth - Easily my favourite look of the night. Does Kate ever get it wrong? This look had the potential to be a disaster, but she pulls it off, yet again. Her Prada ombre feather dress is amazing and her matching lips are the cherry on top. The shoes are also to die for, simple but still incredible.

Scarlett Johansson - I absolutely fell in love with the crystallized Dolce & Gabbana bodysuits that were showcased in their Spring 2012 collection, but I always wondered what use did they have apart from being featured in editorials. Well, here's my answer. This dress is absolutely divine and fits Scarlett perfectly. I don't think I have the words to describe how much I love this dress, the tulle, the beading, the palette. I love it all! Her hair is styled well also, it doesn't distract from the beading because it's down and I'm glad she didn't have an up do. The no jewelry works here, as I think the beading is enough to carry on it's own.

Solange Knowles - The colour of this dress complements her skin tone so well. It's so simple but the colour alone allows it to make a huge impact, which will ensure she's not missed on the red carpet. The shape of the dress is also doing wonders for her, the peplum waist is perfect and the mermaid tail that follows just elongates her. She manages to do all this while still staying bang on trend.

Sofia Vergara - I don't think there's anything she could wear that would make her look bad, but this marchesa gown is absolutely stunning. The style is similar to Solange's dress but the bodice is what sets it apart. I'm a sucker for sparkly things so I pretty much adore this look.

Victoria Justice - I like that she strayed from the usual safe look her and a lot of other teen stars seem to follow. The dress is fashion forward but still age appropriate and I love it so much! The colours are amazing and I'm so glad she added purple heels and not the standard black pumps. The only thing is I wish she put her hair up, a soft up-do would of suited this look perfectly. But that being said she still looks perfect.

Excuse the fact that this is way after the event occurred. It was in my drafts and thought I should post it anyway.
