And this is how it starts....

Friday 7 February 2014

Almost two weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of seeing the 1975 live at Oxford Art Factory. They were insane to put it simply. Matty was truly a standout, sipping tequila throughout but managing to still rock it. His vocals are on a complete other level, if I could have him just follow me around for the rest of my life just singing I would not complain.

What impressed me the most though was Matty (and later followed by George) spending at least an hour taking photos with everyone that had waited behind. I did feel for him though because he looked absolutely buggered by the end of it. But that didn't stop him from asking a girl he passed on his way to the back "did you get a photo?" and then proceeding to take one with her.

They opened with the city which was my favourite, but has since been bumped down a few places due to the concert. A stand-out for me was head.cars.bending. Matty's soft vocals before belting out the chorus gave me goosebumps. But he can't be given all the credit, Adam and Ross on guitars and George on the drums nailed it and honestly I wish that I wasn't so squashed in that mosh-pit because I really just wanted to dance. The beats of the songs which are all impossible for me to describe (a mix of drums/guitars/electro sounding instrument?) are also impossible to resist.

I had and still have trouble listening to their recorded songs post-concert as they do in no way compare to hearing them live. I came out of that concert more in love with the songs and the band itself than I had when I entered, and that is probably the greatest measure of how incredible the experience was.

Till next time!

It was dark, and I really only had a good
view of matty. But who's complaing?
